You've done the work to understand yourself

Understanding isn’t the same as healing.

Your body doesn’t need another explanation. It needs a new experience.

Why things still feel hard

Your nervous system adapted to protect you —adaptions don’t undo themselves just because you understand them.

This can look like anxiety, shutdown, people-pleasing, or tension that never quite leaves.

Not signs that something is wrong with you. Signs your nervous system is waiting for something new.

How Healing Happens

We don't start with what happened. We start with what your body is carrying right now.

Together, we follow what's already alive in you — not a script, not a checklist. Your nervous system leads. I hold the space for it to move.

Change doesn't always look like a breakthrough or big release. Lasting healing is titrated — built through small, sustainable shifts. A breath that comes easier. A tension that has quietly let go.

Healing happens in relationship — with your therapist, and with others. That belief is at the heart of everything here.

I’m Sarah Shelton, LPC, SEP—a Somatic Therapist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner in Houston, Texas.

Trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, and Somatic Experiencing.

I work with adults who've been in therapy and could probably out-therapize their therapist—but still feel stuck in their bodies.

Insight can help you understand your patterns. Lasting change happens when your nervous system experiences something different.

I know this terrain personally. Insight helped me understand my own anxiety, but working with my nervous system helped me move through it.

If you're here, you may already sense a different kind of healing is possible. I'd be honored to walk alongside you.

Your nervous system holds more wisdom than you may realize.

If you're looking for a somatic therapist in Houston, Texas, or virtual therapy anywhere in Texas, I'd love to explore whether we're a good fit.
